The Dome Event
The Dome Event is a cross-cultural, educational and networking initiative that focuses on the field of solidarity in relation to the refugee issue. It is organized and produced by plays2place productions and will be realized in various cultural spaces in Athens on 26-28 February 2016.
The Dome Event follows a cross-disciplinary, cross-borders approach, including a wide spectrum of activities, with the engagement and support of local and international organizations.
It is realized in collaboration with the Goethe Institute of Athens, the international association Cultural Innovators Network, Athens Biennale, The Ministry of Culture, The Experimental Stage of National Theatre, Polyplanity cultural production company, Ionian University - Department of Audiovisual Arts, Refugees Welcome initiative, The Council of Migrants’ Integration of the Municipality of Athens, ΑΜΑΚΑ NGO and Station Athens Laboratory, Social Kitchen “The Other Human and others.
The Dome Event is the kick-off event of the Dome Project (thedomeproject.net), a cross-media umbrella project that maps, connects, supports and develops solidarity initiatives across Europe, Middle East and North Africa.
By introducing solidarity as its key-concept, the Dome Event aspires to be established on an annual basis as a platform for critical thinking, peer-to-peer knowledge exchange, visibility, networking and applied intervention.
