Read for the Others

Description:

The voluntary, nonprofit Network «Diavazo gia tous Allous» is a group of volunteers that aims to read to people who can not do it by themself. These are people with visual impairments, non-sighted people who are unable to keep the book in their hands, the elderly in nursing homes, children in institutions or illiterate prisoners. With the motto "To listen with our eyes, and read with our voice" and the belief that access to literature should be possible for all, volunteers read for the Others develop actions like live readings to more and more institutions each day, in Athens and in Heraklion, Crete. Meanwhile, the Network volunteers read and record, tales and literature books to enrich the Audio Library for the Blind. «Diavazo gia tous Allous» , in July 2015, acquired legal status as a non-profit organization (GSSE).
